OCTOBER 18 - r kids online experience plan

Hi r Kids!

We are now in the final week of our series called, “God’s Masterpiece.” In this series, we are learning about how God lovingly created and uniquely designed each and every one of us.

Today, we will specifically talk about how we are forgiven by God. Jesus died on the cross so we could be forgiven for our sins. This means that when we ask for forgiveness from God, all the bad things we have done are forgotten because of Jesus’ love for us. This is amazing!

Parents: You can use the videos below alone or together with the RKids Online Experience Plan! Check out the plan below and simply watch the corresponding videos when prompted in the guide! After all, YOU are the best teachers your kids could ever have! Have fun with it!

We love you and are praying for your family today!

Summary:  Jesus went through unimaginable physical, emotional, mental and spiritual pain, but He did it for us! He has forgiven our sins through His death and resurrection because of His great love for us. This means that all the bad things we have ever done are able to be forgotten because of how much Jesus loves each and every one of us. We are God’s masterpiece because we are forgiven!

family discussion questions

5-7 year olds

How does it make you feel when someone asks you to forgive them? Sometimes forgiving others goes against how we are feeling. We may want to retaliate for the wrong done to us, but guess what? When Jesus died, He died for everyone’s wrong doing. If He died so we could be forgiven, then we ought to forgive each other.

What do you think it means to be forgiven?  Forgiveness means to completely let go of the things others say or do to you. When you choose to forgive someone, you are not only choosing to not hold their actions against them, but you are also choosing to bless them, just like Jesus blessed us.

Who in your life do you need to forgive today? Unforgiveness is like a weed that grows in our hearts. We may not think that it is a big deal, but eventually the weed will interfere with the good in our lives that is trying to grow. If we want to embrace the good plans God has for us, we need to forgive the people who have hurt us so that way the hurt does not hinder us.

Why do you think forgiveness is important?  Forgiveness is difficult because it usually means someone has hurt us. We may want to hurt people who have hurt us, but if we do that, we only end up injuring ourselves. In order to fulfill God’s plans for our lives, we need to forgive others like Jesus has forgiven us.

Describe a situation when someone put your needs before their own. How did this make you feel? Just like that person put you first, Jesus put our needs before His when He died on the cross. Every time someone places you before their own needs, remember that God has done the same thing for you. Ask God to bless them. This is actually a way of showing God’s love to those around you.

Pray it out

Let's talk to god

You did it! You just took a deep dive into God’s Word – together! Let’s take time now to talk to God.
Ask your child to share things they’d like to pray about.
Write down their prayer requests and then pray together over each request.

Dear God,

Thank you for offering your forgiveness to us. We recognize your authority, Jesus. We know that you are the only way to receive that forgiveness and the only way to go to heaven. Please help us to remember we are forgiven. Help us to accept the peace and joy you offer because of this amazing truth.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen
